On 17th April, I taught my “Developing Speed for Sport” Workshop. The workshop is based on my book, “Anatomy for Strength and Fitness Training for Speed and Sport” which has sold over 20,000 copies.

Bigstockphoto_Runner_3505216(2) This is possibly the most enjoyable of my workshops to attend if the feedback is anything to go by. We spent most of the morning covering the technical aspects of developing speed in different sporting environments. We discussed important concepts such as core conditioning, posture, muscle balance, strength qualities, the stretch-shortening cycle, program design, periodization and much more.

We then spent most of the afternoon in a very sunny Regent’s Park performing agility, plyometric and speed drills. The participants discovered some very important coaching skills when coaching movement, especially at high speed.

The huge amount of sweat lost during that afternoon was possibly in alignment with the amount of fun we had too!
