Speed, agility and tennis (and their relationship) are some of my favourite aspects of my work (and play).

In top level men’s tennis, it seems crucial to having the best movement ability (acceleration and agility) to reach the top of the game.

In my humble opinion, the top ten movers in men’s tennis are:

  1. Novak Djokovic
  2. Rafa Nadal
  3. Andy Murray
  4. Roger Federer
  5. Gael Monfils
  6. David Ferrer
  7. Jo-Wilfred Tsonga
  8. Nikolay Davydenko
  9. Gilles Simon
  10. Fernando Verdasco

Compare this to the actual standings in the top 10 ATP world tennis rankings:

  1. Novak Djokovic
  2. Rafa Nadal
  3. Roger Federer
  4. Andy Murray
  5. David Ferrer
  6. Jo-Wilfred Tsonga
  7. Tomas Berdych
  8. Mardy Fish
  9. Janko Tipsarevic
  10. Nicolas Almagro
It would appear that considering that the top 6 tennis players in the world are also in the top 7 movers in the game and the top 4 movers are the 4 best tennis players. If my judgements are close to being correct, it suggests that having the highest level of acceleration and agility is imperative to optimising your tennis game.
